Jeff Teague is off to a good start for the Atlanta Hawks

With Kirk Hinrich out of action to start the 2011-12 season, the Hawks handed 23-year old Jeff Teague the starting job at point guard and he’s doing a good job so far this year.  Teague has played in 9 games (all starts) for the Hawks so far this year and he is averaging 34.2 minutes, 11.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game.  If Teague keeps playing well, Kirk Hinrich will be the #3 guard when he returns to action.

The Hawks shot 56.6% from the floor last night as they bolted out to a 85-62 lead after three quarters before essentially calling off the dogs a little bit.  Josh Smith led the way for the Hawks with an amazing game as he finished up with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 6 blocked shots.  Josh Johnson (17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals) and Vladimir Radmanovic (17 points, 1 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals) also had solid games for the Hawks last night.  Al Horford (14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots), Jeff Teague (12 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals) and Willie Green (10 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal) also pitched in for the Hawks in this game.  The Hawks are now 6-3 on the season.

Atlanta Hawks 102, Charlotte Bobcats 96 in O.T.

The Hawks outscored the Bobcats 11-5 in overtime last night to put them away.  Josh Smith led the way for the Hawks in this game with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Marvin Williams (15 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) and Al Horford (15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shots) also had very solid games for the Hawks last night.  Joe Johnson only shot 6 of 17 from the floor as he finished up with 14 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal.  Vladimir Radmanovic also pitched in with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot in only 22 minutes on the floor.  The Hawks are now 5-3 on the season.

The Hawks came out flat last night and that cost them at home against a D-Wade and Lebron James-less Miami Heat.  The Hawks only shot 38.3% from the floor and they were outscored 7-0 in the 3rd O.T. period.  Joe Johnson only shot 7 of 20 from the floor last night but he still led the way for the Hawks with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  Josh Smith only shot 6 of 17 from the floor but he finished up with 17 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Tracy McGrady (14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots), Willie Green (14 points and 1 steal in 22 minutes) and Ivan Johnson (13 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal in 21 minutes) also pitched in with solid games off the bench for the Hawks last night.  Al Horford pitched in with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot.  The Hawks are now 4-3 on the year.

Chicago Bulls 76, Atlanta Hawks 74

The Hawks were up 14 points heading into the 4th quarter but that’s when the roof caved in, as the Bulls outscored them 34-18 to win the game.  The Hawks only shot 35% from the floor, but they also played great on defense as the Bulls only shot 33.8% from the floor.  Al Horford (16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals) and Josh Smith (15 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots) led the way for the Hawks in this game.  Marvin Williams pitched in with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal last night.  Joe Johnson only shot 3 of 17 from the floor as he finished up with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.  The Hawks are now 4-2 on the year.

The Hawks outscored the Heat 33-21 in the 4th quarter to surge to a huge road win last night.  Joe Johnson led the way for the Hawks last night with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist.  Al Horford (16 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots) and Tracy McGrady (16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal in 26 minutes on the floor) also had rock solid games for the Hawks.  Jeff Teague also pitched in with 15 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists and 4 steals.  The Hawks are now 4-1 on the year.

The Hawks came out a little flat tonight and the Rockets whacked them pretty good.  Al Horford (15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot) and Joe Johnson (15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots) led the way for the Hawks tonight.  Tracy McGrady was very effective off the bench tonight with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist in 25 minutes on the court.  Josh Smith only shot 4 of 12 from the floor as he finished up with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot tonight.  The Hawks are now 3-1 on the season.

The Hawks didn’t dominate the Nets like expected, but they still played more than well enough to win and that’s all that counts.  Jeff Teague (22 points, 1 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals) and Joe Johnson (21 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist) led the way for the Hawks in this game.  Al Horford (12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots), Marvin Williams (11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal) and Zaza Pachulia (11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in 23 minutes) also pitched in for the Hawks.  The Hawks are now 3-0 on the year.

25-year old small forward Marvin Williams has come out this year like a ball of fire.  He has played in 2 games (both starts) for the Hawks so far this year and he is averaging 26.0 minutes, 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.  Williams wants to keep his starting job this year, as the Hawks replaced him late last year with Josh Smith so that Al Horford could play power forward instead of center.  The Hawks’ are at their best when Williams is in the starting lineup, period.

The Hawks outrebounded the Wizards 45-32 and they held them to 39% shooting from the floor and it showed on the scoreboard.  Joe Johnson (18 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists) and Marvin Williams (17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot) led the way for a very balanced offensive attack by the Hawks.  Josh Smith (15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots) and Al Horford (11 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots) added the muscle for the Hawks in this game.  Jeff Teague (11 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals) and Tracy McGrady (11 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 19 minutes on the floor) also pitched in for the Hawks last night.  The Hawks are now 2-0 on the year.
