Rookie guard Jeff Teague is having a rough time for the Atlanta Hawks this season

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 8:54 am

PG/SG Jeff Teague is having a rough time for the Hawks this season. He has played in 30 games (0 starts) for the Hawks this season and he is averaging 10.6 minutes, 3.5 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Teague is not shooting too well this season hitting only 35.5% from the floor and 22.2% from three point range. This is not a excuse but Teague is not getting much playing this season due to the fact that he is behind Mike Bibby, Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford in the rotation at guard and it’s hard to get into a rhythm shooting the ball when your playing time is sporadic. Still, the Hawks need him to play better when called upon.

Is Mike Bibby of the Atlanta Hawks starting to slow down?

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 26 December 2009 at 2:40 pm

Personally, I think that Mike Bibby has played pretty well for the Hawks this season. He has played in 28 games (all starts) this season for the Hawks and he is averaging 28.0 minutes, 9.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. Bibby is also shooting 43% from three point range this season which is outstanding. The reason that Bibby’s numbers are down some this season is because Jamal Crawford is eating into this playing time this year.

Marvin Williams is was he is for the Atlanta Hawks

I thought the Hawks should have let Marvin Williams walk instead of giving him that huge contract in the off-season. He is a average ball player at best as the fifth or sixth option on offense for the Hawks. Williams has played in 14 games (all starts) for the Hawks this season and he has averaged 29.6 minutes, 11.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. On a different team Williams would be a better basketball player but in his defense it’s good that he’s not a selfish player who needs the ball in his hands to succeed.

The Atlanta Hawks lose Speedy Claxton for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Big Hawks News, Injuries, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 16 January 2008 at 8:46 am

The Hawks have lost point guard Speedy Claxton for the season before he even played in a game. Claxton might need microfracture surgery on his left knee which could cause him to retire. Look for Anthony Johnson, Acie Law and Tyronn Lue to continue to split minutes at the point this season. Johnson has played in 26 games so far this season and he’s averaging 6.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game. He will continue to get the bulk of the minutes until Law starts to pick up his play. Law has played in 23 games this season and he’s averaging 4.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. But, Law is only shooting 37.2% from the floor so the Hawks can’t give him big minutes until he improves from the floor. Tyronn Lue has been banged up this season as he’s only played in 18 games this season. Lue is the best shooter of this motley crew but he’s not much of a passer as he’s averaged 6.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

A couple of guards are shooting a lot of bricks for the Atlanta Hawks

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 11:27 pm

Rookie point guard Acie Law and reserve shooting guard Salim Stoudamire are both shooting up a ton of bricks so far this month. Law is only hitting 29.6% of his shots from the floor in December and Stoudamire is hitting only 20.8%. Law has played in 5 games this month and he is averaging 18.2 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He will need to shoot better if he wants to earn more playing time. Salim Stoudamire has played in 5 games this month and he is averaging 9.2 minutes, 4.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.0 assist per game.
