25-year old small forward Marvin Williams has come out this year like a ball of fire.  He has played in 2 games (both starts) for the Hawks so far this year and he is averaging 26.0 minutes, 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.  Williams wants to keep his starting job this year, as the Hawks replaced him late last year with Josh Smith so that Al Horford could play power forward instead of center.  The Hawks’ are at their best when Williams is in the starting lineup, period.

The Hawks have signed 30-year old shooting guard Willie Green.  Green played in 77 games (13 starts) for the Hornets last year and he averaged 21.7 minutes, 8.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.  He has now played in 499 games (224 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 21.7 minutes, 9.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.  This was a solid signing for the Hawks as Green should have been signed by someone else already.

The Atlanta Hawks will be without Kirk Hinrich for a while

Blogged under Big Hawks News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Saturday 10 December 2011 at 12:52 pm

The Atlanta Hawks will be without 30-year old PG/SG Kirk Hinrich for about a month after he had recent surgery to remove a cyst and repair his labrum in his left shoulder.  Hinrich played in 24 games (22 starts) for the Hawks last year and he averaged 28.6 minutes, 8.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.  The Hawks are going to miss Hinrich’s outside shot as he nailed 42.1% of his shots from three point range last year for the Hawks.  Jeff Teague will not only have to start while Hinrich is out of action, but he’s going to have to play big minutes.
