The Atlanta Hawks will be without Marvin Williams for a few games

Blogged under Big Hawks News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by admin on Friday 31 December 2010 at 10:34 pm

The Atlanta Hawks will be without 24-year old starting small forward Marvin Williams for at least the next four games due to a back problem.  Williams has played in 30 games (28 starts) for the Hawks so far this year and he is averaging 30.0 minutes, 11.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.  Look for Jamal Crawford and Maurice Evans to see bumps in playing time until Williams is ready to return to action.

The Hawks shot 51.2% from the floor and that was the biggest reason for the win last night.  Josh Smith was outstanding for the Hawks in this game as he had 22 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Al Horford also stuffed the stat sheet with 22 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots last night.  Joe Johnson (16 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists) and Mike Bibby (15 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in 27 minutes) also pitched in for the Hawks’ cause last night.  The Hawks are now 21-13 on the year.

Maurice Evans appears to be running on fumes for the Atlanta Hawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Tuesday 28 December 2010 at 2:57 am

32-year old SG/SF Maurice Evans has really been awful in December for the Hawks.  Evans has played in 14 games in December so far and he is averaging 15.1 minutes, 3.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  Evans is only shooting 30.5% from the floor and 20.8% from the three point line so far this year.  Evans has now played in 24 games (5 starts) overall this year for the Hawks and he is averaging 16.6 minutes, 3.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  Evans is only shooting 34.6% from the floor and 25% from three point range so far this year.  Unless Evans starts to pick up the pace soon, he’s going to be sitting at the far end of the Hawks’ bench.

Jordan Crawford is still buried on the bench for the Atlanta Hawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 4:01 pm

The Atlanta Hawks are in a “win now’ mode and they have a lot of veterans ahead of Jordan Crawford on the depth chart.  Crawford has played in 10 games (0 starts) so far this year for the Hawks and he is averaging 10.9 minutes, 4.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  He is only shooting 38% from the floor and 36.8% from three point range so far this year but I think those numbers would improve with an increase in P.T.  He will be just watching and learning from the bench unless the Hawks suffer a few injuries to the guards.

Jeff Teague is stepping up lately for the Atlanta Hawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Sunday 19 December 2010 at 3:58 pm

22-year old point guard Jeff Teague has been playing pretty well as of late for the Hawks.  In his last four games, Teague is averaging 16.0 minutes, 8.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game as he is shooting a red hot 63.6% from the floor.  He has now played in 25 games (0 starts) for the Hawks so far this year and he is averaging 13.6 minutes, 4.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.  Teague’s shooting is up from everywhere on the floor in his second season in the NBA.  He is shooting 47.3% from the floor, 36.4% from the three point line and 85.7% from the free throw line this year.  At some point this year, Teague is going to start getting more P.T. for the Hawks if he keeps playing well.
