The Hawks have acquired 29-year old point guard Jamal Crawford from the Golden State Warriors for 31-year old point guard Speedy Claxton and 24-year old point guard Acie Law. Crawford will move into Mike Bibby’s old spot as the starting point guard for the 2009-2010 season. He played in 65 games (all starts) for the Knicks & Warriors last season and he averaged 38.1 minutes, 19.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. Crawford has now played in 597 games (393 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 32.6 minutes, 15.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.0 steal per game.

Speedy Claxton only played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Hawks last season and he averaged 7.5 minutes, 2.5 points and 1.5 assists per game. Acie Law was the Hawks’ first round pick two years ago and he was a bust for them. Law played in 55 games (1 start) for the Hawks last season and he averaged 10.2 minutes, 2.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Law appeared in 111 games (7 starts) in his career with the Hawks and he averaged 12.8 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.8 assists per game. This was a good move for the Hawks.
