Josh Smith has been very impressive this season for the Hawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Friday 9 February 2007 at 1:06 pm

Josh Smith has been great for the Hawks this season.  He’s been great at both sides of the court for the Hawks and his hustle rubs off on his teammates.  Smith is making the most of his opportunity with the added minutes he’s getting by finally starting games this season.  He’s averaging 14.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.6 blocks per game this season.  His shooting could improve some as he’s hittting 43.8% from the floor, 22.1% from three-point range and 69.6% from the free throw line.  If he can improve those %’s just a little bit, he will be a future all-star to team with Joe Johnson.

The Hawks looking like they did well in the draft

Blogged under Front Page,Rookie Reports by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 5:58 pm

The Hawks really need to get Shelden Williams some more playing time because they need his toughness and rebounding on the court.  They should consider starting him at center to team with Marvin Williams and Josh Smith along the front line.  He’s played in 45 games this season and he’s averaging 21.2 minutes, 5.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists.

Solomon Jones is another big body that the young Hawks would be smart to get a little more playing time.  He has played in 33 games and is averaging 8.7 minutes, 2.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.1 assists per game.

Small forward Jeremy Richardson has only played 2 games and 8 minutes.  He has scored 5 points and has 1 rebound this year.
