Hawks get thumped 96-75 by the Bobcats in Atlanta

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Saturday 20 January 2007 at 4:26 pm

The Hawks got outrebounded 47-31 by the Bobcats and that was a key to why they got blasted on their own court.  Joe Johnson led the way for the Hawks with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.  Josh Smith was also very busy with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 blocked shots.

The Hawks fell to 13-24 on the season with this loss.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270119001

The Hawks blast the Timberwolves 105-88 in Minnesota

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Thursday 18 January 2007 at 3:10 pm

The Hawks shot a blistering 54.3% from the floor and that was the main reason they won this game.  Joe Johnson had a great game with 29 points and 8 assists.  Josh Smith also had another solid game with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

The Hawks improved to 13-23 on the season with this win.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270117016

The Hawks nip the Celtics 100-96 in Atlanta

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 16 January 2007 at 6:41 pm

Josh Childress played a monster game for the Hawks yesterday as he scored 23 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and stole the ball twice.  Josh Smith had a remarkable game too.  Smith scored 18 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, blocked 7 shots and stole the ball 5 times!  Joe Johnson ran the point most of the game and wound up with 18 points and 9 assists.

The Hawks improved to 12-23 on the season with this win.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270115001

Salim Stoudamire needs to play better for the Hawks

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Monday 15 January 2007 at 10:18 pm

Salim Stoudamire needs to shoot better as he’s only hitting 37.2% from the floor this season.  If he shoots better he’ll get more playing time because the Hawks are having problems scoring this season.  Stoudamire has played in 29 games and is averaging 19.9 minutes, 7.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game this season.  He was drafted last season to provide the Hawks with instant offense off the bench and they could really use that now.

Hawks get huge win over the Pistons 99-93 in Atlanta

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 13 January 2007 at 12:22 pm

The Hawks had been shooting terrible lately…until last night.  The Hawks shot 50% from the floor, against the Pistons no less!   Joe Johnson had an outstanding game with 34 points and 5 assists.  Josh Childress had a great game off the bench with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Hawks improved to 11-23 on the season with this big win at home.  http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270112001

Josh Smith returns

Blogged under Big Hawks News,Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Saturday 13 January 2007 at 11:36 am

Josh Smith made a very speedy recovery from hernia surgery and returned two weeks ahead of schedule.  The Hawks really needed that as they had just lost Speedy Claxton and Zaza Pachulia for awhile.  He didn’t have a great night in his first game back scoring 5 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, dishing out 4 assists and blocking 3 shots.  But, the Hawks are glad to get him back.

Hawks suffer injuries to 2 more starting players

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Friday 12 January 2007 at 6:31 pm

Zaza Pachulia has an injured ankle but the Hawks have been mum on the severity of the injury.  He will miss some time.  Pachulia was having a good season as he has started in 31 games and has averaged 12.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.  He is almost impossible for the Hawks to replace so they better hope the injury is minor.

Speedy Claxton has a possible severe left knee injury.  He will miss alot of time, but the amount is not yet known.  Claxton has been a huge disappointment for the Hawks this season as they gave him alot of money to run the offense.  Claxton has played in 26 games (all starts) and he’s averaged 27.3 minutes, 6.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.23 steals per game this season.  He’s really shot alot of bricks this season as he’s only hit 34.7% of his shots from the floor.

The Hawks look pathetic in 96-77 loss to the Hornets in Atlanta

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 11 January 2007 at 1:52 pm

The Hawks played equally pathetic on both offense and defense last night and took a beating from the under-manned New Orleans Hornets.  The Hawks only shot 33.3% from the floor and allowed the Hornets to hit 52.3% and that was a recipe for disaster.  Josh Childress came to play as he scored 19 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 3 assists.  Joe Johnson had a horrible shooting night (6 of 24) and wound up with 13 points and 5 rebounds.

The Hawks fell to 10-23 on the season with this awful loss.  http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270110001

The Hawks get thrashed 91-72 by the Pacers in Indiana

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 10 January 2007 at 2:22 pm

The Hawks played an absolutely pathetic basketball game last night.  The Hawks only shot 32.1% from the floor as a team and they were outrebounded 54-43!  Speedy Claxton was the best Hawk last night with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  Joe Johnson was the only other Hawk in double figures and he finished with 10 points.

The Hawks fell to 10-22 with this awful loss last night.  http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270109011

The Hawks having another rough season

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 9 January 2007 at 11:45 pm

The Hawks are currently 10-21 on the season and are in 4th place in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference.  The Hawks are 9 games behind the Orlando Magic.  The Hawks are having big problems on offense as they are only averaging 92.9 points per game which is 28th in the NBA.  The Hawks are a poor shooting team as they’ve only hit 43.4% from the floor which also ranks 28th in the NBA.  Joe Johnson is the lone offensive force for the Hawks as he averages 25.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.  Zaza Pachulia has played well too as he’s averaged 13.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.  The Hawks do have alot of exciting young players but they have alot to learn at the NBA level.
