Josh Smith out after surgery

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Friday 29 December 2006 at 12:39 am

Josh Smith will miss at least 4 weeks while he recovers from hernia surgery.  Smith was averaging 12.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per game so far this season.  The Hawks are going to miss Smith’s all-around game and his good defense.  Shelden Williams will start in his place and he is averaging 6.0 points and 5.8 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game so far this season.

Hawks shooting ice-cold in 89-76 loss to Cavs

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 28 December 2006 at 9:32 pm

The Hawks only shot 39.2% from the floor and scored under 20 points in three of the quarters last night.  Zaza Pachulia really came to play last night, but he didn’t have much help.  Pachulia wound up with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.  Josh Childress had a solid night with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and 2 steals.  Speedy Claxton didn’t shoot well (4 of 13) but he still wound up with 11 points, 7 assists and 8 steals.  Joe Johnson had his worst night of the season as he only hit 4 of 17 shots from the floor and wound up with 10 points and 5 assists.

The Hawks fell to 9-18 on the season after this pathetic performance.

Hawks destroyed 108-81 by the Pistons

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 26 December 2006 at 2:26 pm

This was never a game as the Pistons just blasted the poor Hawks.  The Hawks only shot 36.3% from the floor and that doomed them in this basketball game.  Marvin Williams led the way for the Hawks with 19 points.  Joe Johnson had an off night with only 12 points and 4 assists.  Shelden Williams gave a great effort with 11 points and 15 rebounds.  Salim Stoudamire (10 points) and Solomon Jones (10 points, 10 rebounds) each had solid games off the bench for the Hawks.

The Hawks fell to 9-17 on the season with this loss.

Hawks melt down in 4th quarter, blow a huge lead, and lose 112-106 to the Jazz

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 22 December 2006 at 10:42 pm

Things were looking really good for the Hawks after three quarters as they were leading the game 93-72!  The Hawks were pathetic in the 4th quarter as the Jazz outscored them 40-13 to steal a win away from the Hawks.  The Hawks didn’t play any defense at all as the Jazz hit 55.7% of their shots from the floor.

Joe Johnson led the way for the Hawks with 27 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.  Josh Smith had an outstanding game with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocked shots and 3 steals.  Shelden Williams had a good game off the bench with 14 points and 6 rebounds.  Speedy Claxton had a solid game at point guard as he scored 12 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 8 assists and stole the ball 4 times.

The Hawks fell to 9-15 on the season with this horrible loss.

Speedy Claxton disappointing so far for the Hawks

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 18 December 2006 at 6:48 pm

When the Hawks signed Speedy Claxton to start at point guard they thought they were getting a steady hand that would lead the young players.  After all, Claxton had played recently with the San Antonio Spurs and might bring a winning attitude to the Hawks.  Claxton has played very poorly so far this season as he has averaged 4.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game so far this season.  If he doesn’t start to play better he’ll be sitting next to the coach on the bench because his back-up, Tyronn Lue, has played very well this season.  Lue is averaging 14.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game so far this season.  The Hawks prefer to have Lue coming off the bench, but that could change soon if Claxton doesn’t start playing well.

Bulls nip Hawks in OT 106-104

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 17 December 2006 at 1:11 am

The Hawks played hard, but just fell a little short last night.  Joe Johnson returned after missing a couple games due to injury and scored 23 points and dished out 5 assists.  Marvin Williams had a real good game with 23 points and 7 rebounds.  Zaza Pachulia had a decent game in the middle with 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Josh Smith had a stat sheet stuffer with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.  Speedy Claxton had another solid game directing the offense with 10 points, 11 assists and 4 steals.

The Hawks gave a great effort last night but fell to 9-14 with this loss.

Hawks beat Grizzlies 97-88

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 16 December 2006 at 5:07 pm

The Hawks played again with Joe Johnson but some of them took their game to a new level to cover for him.   The Hawks shot 53.5% from the floor and out-rebounded the Grizzlies 37-29 on their way to victory.  The Hawks played great defense holding the Grizzlies to 36.9% shooting from the floor.  Zaza Pachulia led the way for the Hawks with 22 points and 7 rebounds.  Speedy Claxton had his best game of the season with 19 points, 11 assists and and 3 steals.  Josh Smith had a great all-around game with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 blocked shots.  Marvin Williams played o.k. with 13 points and 6 rebounds.  Tyronn Lue scored 13 points and dished out 4 assists off the bench.

The Hawks improved to 9-13 on the season with this win.

The Hawks played without Joe Johnson again and the results weren’t pretty.  The Hawks only shot 37.7% from the floor and got out-rebounded 48-32.  That’s no way to win a game.

Marvin Williams led the way for the Hawks with 23 points and 7 rebounds.  Salim Stoudamire added 12 points off the bench.  Zaza Pachulia pitched in with 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Tyronn Lue added 10 points off the bench.

The Hawks fell to 8-13 on the season with this loss.

Josh Smith had a fantastic game with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 5 blocked shots.  Tyronn Lue pitched in with 16 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.  Salim Stoudamire added 13 points.  Marvin Williams scored 10 points and had a nasty dunk OVER Marcus Camby.  Speedy Claxton was busy with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.
